Mediation Analysis

Byrd Sellers, Johnita
Hello All,

I am attempting to perform a simple mediation analysis on some data.  In
my analysis, there are certain covariates that need to be taken into
account with the mediators.  Is it acceptable to use a simple mediation
analysis when dealing with covariates or would I need to look more into
structural equation modeling?  Any assistance that you can give on the
subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Johnita

Johnita,
I thikn you can inlcude the coveriate in the analyses in all three
regression models.
So I thikn it can be doen iwth multiple regression

The paper by MacKinnon & Dywer provide an example of the statsical model
for this

MacKinnon, D. P., & Dwyer, J. H. (1993). Estimating mediated effects in
prevention studies. Evaluation Review, 17(2), 144-158.

You might also take a look at MacKinnion's new book

MacKinnon, D. P. (2008). Introduction to statistical mediation. New York:
Lawrence Erlbaum.

Try this web site where you can find a SPSS macro for mediation analyses with covariates
