When Verizon dropped newsgroups I started using eternal-September.
Today Thunderbird 8.0 kept asking for a password. I removed the eternal-September account. Eternal September does not come up with all the groups such as sci.sat.* or comp.soft-sys.stat.spss I know some of the people on this list are also on newsgroups. How are people accessing usenet? Have other who use both usenet and this group had problems lately? -- Art Kendall Social Research Conaultants ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. Hi Art. I did use Google Groups for quite a while, but was not all that happy with it after the "upgrade". (The killfile script I was using stopped working, for example.) So I've gone back to using Thunderbird and the news server from www.newsguy.com. It's not free, but the cheapest package (which is all you need if you're not downloading binaries) is pretty inexpensive.
Cheers, Bruce
