Prediction test

Jannene
Hi,
My thesis hypothesis is that parenting styles affects intimacy. I have no idea what prediction test to use. The Independent variable, parenting styles is a 4 level variable and intimacy is a continuous variable. Can someone please help?

Jannene,

Marta Garcia-Granero put together a flowchart for statistical analysis
in 2009.  I don't have the website where it resides, but according to
her chart, you would use least squares regression.  Perhaps someone else
on the listserv has the website link.  It would be a valuable addition
to your library.

Hi Jannene,
given your information one way ANOVA seems adequate.

I have a bunch of questions, but no time to ask them all at the
moment. My immediate concern is whether your intimacy data are
obtained from both parents, as this would most certainly result in
residual correlation which would need to be accounted for in the
model.
