Problem opening some SPS-L messages

Paul Sillitoe

Dear List

I apologise for posting this enquiry generally to the list.

However, regrettably, my requests for assistance to what I understand to be the address for the List-owners at [hidden email] (reproduced below) have produced only what I consider to be dismissive and somewhat rude replies. The latest advice is:

“If you cannot open the message, send a note to the list saying so.”

So…

I am experiencing a frequent problem opening some messages on the SPSS List.

When clicking on some message hyperlinks, I get a Microsoft Outlook Security Notice advising that the message's originating location might be unsafe, and do I wish to continue? When I do continue, Windows "Can't open the file".

This usually only happens for some messages in any one day's postings.

Hitherto I have ignored it, but I now do really want to access the messages within the thread "SPSS Data Collection Data Entry, for 28-29 May onwards.

Typically, one message that will not open is from 29-30 May 2013:

4. SPSS Data Collection Data Entry

+  Re: SPSS Data Collection Data Entry (05/30)

         From: Antoon Smulders <[hidden email]>

I would be grateful for advice about how to overcome this problem.

Thank you.

If you cannot open the message, send a note to the list saying so.

Paul, if you are reading the list via e-mail, I suggest that you try reading (and posting) via the Nabble archive:  http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/

If you cannot open the message, send a note to the list saying so.

Re: Problem opening some SPS-L messages

Maguin, Eugene
In reply to this post by Paul Sillitoe

Paul, I very strongly think you should talk to your IT support people and show them what is happening. I don’t believe that I have ever seen that message and I was able to open that email without any warning messages. But the UB mail system is probably different from the UK mail system. Maybe that matters; maybe it doesn’t.

Subject: Problem opening some SPS-L messages
