Re: a simple problem with formatting

Yampolskaya, Svetlana
Dear List,

I encountered a simple problem but I cannot solve. I have a variable age
and in the variable view it has width 8 and 2 decimals.

When I tried to save the file as a text file this variable shows 20
decimals. I used this statement but it did not solve the problem.

FORMATS age (F2.2).
exe.

Can you please help? How I can get rid of extra decimals?

Thank you,

Lana

Re: a simple problem with formatting

Lana,

I'm curious. What is the spss version?

Try a format of f5.2.

What do you mean 'save the file as a text file'? Do you mean you used a
write outfile command? Or, do you mean that from the data window you went
file-->save as (type = tab delimited (.dat)? Or something else?

More v16

Maguin, Eugene
In reply to this post by Yampolskaya, Svetlana
I have 16.0.2 (but not the hotfix) and I think the operation of the left
hand pane (I'll call it the 'contents' pane since it resembles a table of
contents) of the output viewer works differently than it did in 15. I'd like
confirmation of my memory. An off list reply is probably better.

A segment of the contents pane typically looks like this

...
Log
Operation, e.g., frequencies.
Log
Operation
Log
Operation
Log
Operation
Log
Operation
...

I think that with 15 I could select (left mouse) either a log or an
operation entry and then go down 1, 10, or 100 entrys and select (shift-left
mouse) either a log or an operation entry and every entry between,
inclusive, would be highlighted and so that they could be deleted.

16 does not work that way for me. I can go from log, ..., log but I can not
go log, ..., operation.

Is my memory of 15 incorrect?
And, if you have 16 (exact version please), does it work that way for you.

Thanks, Gene Maguin
