Recommended books on data mining

Ben Grant
Hi all.

Can someone recommend a good book on data mining, with the use of SPSS and/or Clementine? I'd be interested in a book that covers models, methodology and also includes realistic examples.

Thank you very much in advance.
Ben

If you are looking for a "how-to guide" i'd certainly recommend to start
with "DATA MINING TECHNIQUES IN CRM. Inside Customer Segmentation" (Wiley
2009). A comprehensive, SPSS / Clementine based, data mining handbook . It
covers techniques as TwoStep, Cohonen networks, Decision Trees etc. but,
more importantly, it presents real-world data mining applications from
telcos, banking and retail, following the CRISP-DM process model. You can
also check "DISCOVERING KNOWLEDGE IN DATA. An Introduction to Data
Mining", another a Clementine based book.

If someone else has other recommendations, please share with us.

Perhaps try this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Handbook-Statistical-Analysis-Mining-Applications/dp/0123747651/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1269443328&sr=1-1-spell

Not exclusively geared towards SPSS, but there are some examples of case studies done in Clementine among other packages they feature.
Very good book if you're looking for non-technical, plain english and top line explanations as opposed to deep subject matter embedded in the algorithms and their math.
