On behalf of a colleague:
Can anyone help me with a simple problem. I want to run a 2 x 2 x 2 repeated measures ANOVA model in SPSS (1 within and
2 repeated). I used to run these long ago in SAS and have never done this in SPSS. SO any help would be appreciated. I believe it’s rather simple (and simple syntax would be fine). |
Tell your colleague to look at page 858 in the 24 syntax reference. The example there is
GLM JANLO,JANHI,FEBLO,FEBHI,MARLO,MARHI BY SEX /WSFACTOR MONTH 3 STIMULUS 2 /WSDESIGN MONTH, STIMULUS /DESIGN SEX. Gene Maguin From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]]

The description you provide for the design to be analyzed
is ambiguous, especially the "1 within and 2 repeated". One interpretation is that you have 3 independent variables, let's call them A, B, C, and if combined factorially, the SPSS syntax for such a design is the following: ** 3-Way Repeated Measures ANOVA.. GLM A1B1C1,A1B1C2, A1B2C1,A1B2C2, A2B1C1,A1B1C2, A2B2C1,A1B2B2 /wsfactors= A(2), B (2), C(2) /METHOD = SSTYPE(3) /* ASSUMING BALANCED DESIGN. /CRITERIA = ALPHA(.05) /print=descriptive,etasq /WSDESIGN = A,B,C,AB,AC,BC,ABC. However, an alternate interpretation is that you have ONE independent variable (one two level within-subject factor) and 2 dependent variables. If A is the independent variable and B C, I believe that the syntax becomes: GLM A1B1C1,A1B1C2, A1B2C1,A1B2C2, A2B1C1,A1B1C2, A2B2C1,A1B2B2 /wsfactors= A(2) /METHOD = SSTYPE(3) . /CRITERIA = ALPHA(.05) /print=descriptive,etasq /WSDESIGN = A. I'm less sure about the correctness of the second GLM syntax because I haven't analyzed these types of designs, so, if anyone sees any errors/improvements, feel free to comment. NOTE: the print statement is not necessary but I usually include it. -Mike Palij New York University [hidden email] ----- Original Message ----- OnThursday, February 09, 2017 12:54 PM, Alan C Roberts, .
