SPSS 15.0 multiple datasets feature

Jon Johnson-3
Is there a way to "turn off" the default behaviour of SPSS 15.0 opening
new files but without closing the previous file.
We have a large amount of code which now fails or runs erratically as a
consequence of moving from 12 to 15.

thanks

Dear Jon Johnson,

when moving our Syntax Code from SPSS 13 to 14 we had a similar
problem.

we solved that in the folowing way:

In our SPSS 13 syntax we first searched for every GET command line.
We did this by simply pasting the whole syntax into MS-Word an used
the search funktion.

Second, we inserted after each GET command line the following
additional command line:

DATASET NAME DataSet1 WINDOW=FRONT  .

Thereby >DataSet1< can be any name you like.

Optional you shold first ad a command line to save the
previosly opend file like:   SAVE OUTFILE=“C:\mysamplefile.sav“

finaly we pasted al back into the SPSS syntax editor.

This resulted in SPSS 14 to behave like SPSS 13 as opening every
SPSS  .sav file in the same one Datasetwindow namend DataSet1 and not
opening new windows again and again....

Hope that helps
