SPSS 15 Memory failure - HELP!

SPSS 15 Memory failure - HELP!

Dear list,
I replaced SPSS 14 with version 15, and now when I open my version 14 output files I have a problem. The files open and some boxes in the output are displayed. Other boxes are blank, and if I click on them I get the message "failed to launch server application". I then click "OK" and then click again and get the message "Out of memory". I click "OK" and that's it. My PC has tonnes of memory. Can someone please help. I can't open any of my files which I urgently need and my university IT dept. (who I purchased SPSS from) doesn't know what the problem is. Hi Kathryn,
As far as I know the output documents of SPSS 14 and 15 are incompatible. I would suggest that you double-check this with SPSS support. Thanks for your reply Georg. I haven't heard of this and my institutions IT dept. said the output files should open. As far as I am aware all newer versions of SPSS should open old output output files. If this wasn't the case then surely no-one would ever want to upgrade. I know I wouldn't as now I can't access my files. I have no problem opening 14 output in 15 (just tried it, output and plots opened fine). Again, patch 15 and see if that works. 14 also had a few published patches, as I recall but none seem to address an inability to open 14 output in 15. Sorry I can't be of more help. SPSS output files are expected to be backwards compatible but not forwards. That is, SPSS 15 should be able to read a spo file saved in 14, but SPSS 14 would not read an SPSS 15 file.
Be sure that your SPSS 15 has the 15.0.1 patch. You might also try running rereg.bat in the SPSS installation directory, since you are getting the "failed to launch server app" message. Thanks to all those who responded to my query. I have now resolved the issue. I downloaded patch 15.0.1 and this resolved the issue. Thanks to all!
