Hello:
I about to receive SPSS 16, but before I do could someone provide the steps necessary to read older spss data files (spss 15-10) into SPSS 16? Thanks! -- Kizzy M. None, SPSS 16 should be able to read them without problem. *.spo files
will, however, be trouble. Export them to another format before you replace 15 with 16. Note that a legacy viewer application is available with both SPSS 16 and
SPSS 17 to read old output files. In 16 it is a separate install. -----Original Message----- From: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Wuensch, Karl L Sent: Monday, October 13, 2008 3:54 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: SPSS 16 None, SPSS 16 should be able to read them without problem. *.spo files will, however, be trouble. DON'T INSTALL 16.0! It's a nightmare. SPSS 17.0 is being released
shortly. Wait and instll that. Avoid 16.0! M. Dear Karl,
To which format do you suggest to export my SPSS 14 output files (.spo), so I can still use them in SPSS 16? This separate install, is this 'smartviewer'?

I prefer html format, but, of course, you don't view them with
SPSS. I have not used the smartviewer that has been mentioned, but will check it out.
