Hello,
I'd like to learn how to use Marcos in SPSS. I have intermediate syntax experience and want to explore the use of macros to speed things up. I'm looking for a beginner guide to macros in SPSS type material. Many thanks in advance. Hi Jignesh,
Have a look in the SPSS syntax guide under DEFINE-!ENDDEFINE. Also have a look on www.spsstools.net and in earlier editions (<3rd ed) of the pdf "Spss programming and data management". But if you're going to learn something new anyway, I'd recommend learning Python instead. It is much more flexible than the macro language. But you need at least Spss v14.01 + python plugin. Cheers!! Dear Friend
Use the Raynald Levesque book - SPSS Programing and data managment - the second edition is a special edition for macros and scripts. This is a free book in the PDF format. Hello, I have reviewed all the related posts in the archives on that and still feel like I need a confirmation for my question:
If I include z variable as a predictor and T_z (T_ * z) as additional predictor, can I then conclude that the effect of z var that I find is corrected for the time dependent nature of that z variable ? The reason I am asking is because all I could find on the role of including time dependent var functions in Cox regression is to test for the proportionality of hazards. I could not find anywhere a clear statement that including that T_*z function actually controls for the time dependent nature of z in the model. Thanks a lot. Bozena,
If the effect of Z is time dependent, then its effect is not proportional. Both statements are equivalent. Proportional hazards means that the additional hazard created by a risk factor is the same at all times. If the effect is time dependent, the effect is not proportional (it may increase with time, or decrease with time, or whatever).
