Hi All,
My faculty pack (SPSS 22) has stopped working. This is the error message that I get: "Attempt to Connect to a remote server failed inet:Local Computer: 0." My license does not expire until the end of February. Does anyone have any ideas before I go ahead and contact tech support? Thanks! Copy-and-paste of my prior response: Did it ever work? I've had similar problems over an internet *license* server connection, and once I established one valid connection it never bothered again (although re-installing caused the same issue). I could never figure out if it was my end (e.g. a firewall blocked the connection from establishing) or it was the University's end (e.g. the license server was not functional late at night). You might try disabling your internet firewall to see if one of my suspicions was right. |

Andy, Thanks.
I have never had the problem before. It just started on Friday. My copy is on a laptop. The problem is happening both at the school and when I am at home (using my personal wireless to connect to the net). A colleague in my office started having the same problem on Friday. That really sounds like you have concurrent (ie not a named one) license. Can you ping the license server? I think the server needs a reboot.

It's an individual license that I downloaded and installed myself from the "on the hub" website last February. After reading what Andy wrote, I found this: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21489528 I have contacted my I.T. department, so I hope this will be resolved tomorrow. Hi All,
I just wanted to follow up on this issue in case anyone else has the problem in the future. Thanks for all of the replies both on and off the list. The problem was due to a change in firewall settings by the IT people. It took them a couple of hours to sort it out, but I am back up and running. Rick Richard W.
