In case Spanish is an undecipherable language to you, Rubier says that he has SPSS 17 and wonders if that program can perform Barttlet "docima" tests.

Bartlett's test of Sphericity would likely translate as
Prueba de esfericidad de Bartlett
Given that the guy lived to be over 90 I would assume he came up with a few things other than a test of Sphericity.
Docima doesn't readily translate hence a request for a reference!!

RE: Sobre la dócima de Barttlet

In reply to this post by David Marso
Dócima is an extremely archaic Spanish word for "test" (based on Greek word "dokimasia" for assaying minerals)  Even when it was used in Statistics, which would be many decades ago, it was used only in Spain (not in Latin America, where most Spanish speakers live). There are some ancient Statistics textbooks, published in Spain around the 1950s, that used that word, which almost nobody understands nowadays.

The fact is that an exact equivalent of "test" does not exist in Spanish, either as noun or verb. "Test" as a noun is ordinarily translated into Spanish as "prueba" these days (or "probar" as verb), but "prueba" and "probar" are also equivalent to "probe" and "proof". There are not exact Spanish equivalents to express the nuanced differences between the English words "test", "trial", "probe", "assay" and "proof/prove"

Henry Ford used to say about the color of his cars (all painted black for reasons of economy): "You can have them in any color, as long as it's black". Nowadays this is the way with languages: You can speak any language, as long as it's English.

By the way, the answer is Yes. Bartlett Sphericity test is available in SPSS as a matter of course.

Seems that the word "dócima" is alive and kicking ...

An example from the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO),
http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?pid=S2071-00542012000100011&script=sci_artte
xt

It refers to the "dócima de Bartlett" as Mark Miller points out,

-----------------

La palabra "dócima" está vivita y coleando ...

Un ejemplo reciente de SciELO, también referencias médicas de salud,

Se refieren a la "dócima de Bartlett" como menciona Mark Miller,
