(To list-members: should we routinely post these instructions to the
list, say the first of every month?)

"Unsubscribe" requests posted to the list will never be acted on. That
isn't how you do it. Here are the standard instructions:

When you subscribed to the list, you received a welcome message (I'm
copying it below) with instructions (including asking you to save it).

Anyway, send a message to [hidden email] with the following
words in the body of the message: SIGNOFF SPSSX-L. (You have to send
it, of course, from the address from which you're subscribed to the
list.)

Don't add anything else (your name, a title for the message...).

It should work. If it doesn't, go the listserv web page and unsubscribe
there:

 From the welcome message:

Oliver,

To be excluded you need to answer this question correctly:

If Logit(pi)=1.3350 what are the odds ratio of lung cancer among birdkeepers to lung cancer among non-birdkeepers?

Richard:

As an academic exercise it would be great to see if it we see fewer of these
cases.

Is there a way to place a message at the end of each message saying
something like "If you do not want to receive further messages from... "
etc. Might work better.

Regards,
