Tools for analyzing open-ended questions

William Peck
looking for means of analyzing open-ended questions, currently it's a manual effort by the users. Nvivo looks good and mentions SPSS, but it's basically an import of your data (from a variety of sources) and it does the analysis. Is there anything in SPSS that does this? Or other suggestions? ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. To leave the list, send the command SIGNOFF SPSSX-L For a list of commands to manage subscriptions, send the command INFO REFCARD

Maybe you look for "Natural Language Processing Software".

Re: Tools for analyzing open-ended questions

Thanks! I'll check it out.

IBM Text Analytics looks ok, but kind of crude in my not so humble opinion. Basically it's a categorization of key words, somewhat like a word cloud, but categorizing words with a common theme.

IBM SPSS Modeler with Text Analytics looks a little more sophisticated, but the core is still the Text Analytics with the categorization component.

Nvivo looks like top of the line.

Searching for "Natural Language Processing Software" brings up all kinds of results, so will have to sort through that.
- But IBM Watson comes near the top and that looks really good.

We now have Salesforce for ERP stuff, and their AI Reporting (Einstein) also can do basic text analytics (video), but their orientation is sales, marketing, etc.
