After V22 crash, the default toolbar with useful things like dialog recall etc. has disappeared.
I've tried repairing permissions and restarting. "Customize Toolbar" doesn't seem to have the features that were lost. Is there a way to reboot the default toolbar? Hopefully not reinstalling SPSS? regards, Ian Ian D. David,
Thanks for the pointer, but I believe that's a windows-specific solution? Or at least, I've no idea what an HKEY is, nor can I find same using file content search on my machine (mac). Any other thoughts, or anyone else? regards, Ian On May 7, 2014, at 2:44 PM, David Marso <[hidden email]> wrote: > Ian, > See this thread: > http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/Toolbars-have-been-disappeared-td5721042.html > > > > ----- > Please reply to the list and not to my personal email. > Those desiring my consulting or training services please feel free to email me. > --- > "Nolite dare sanctum canibus neque mittatis margaritas vestras ante porcos ne forte conculcent eas pedibus suis." > Cum es damnatorum possederunt porcos iens ut salire off sanguinum cliff in abyssum?" > -- > View this message in context: http://spssx-discussion.1045642.n5.nabble.com/V22-crashed-now-no-toolbar-tp5725877p5725879.html > Sent from the SPSSX Discussion mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > > ===================== > To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to > [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the > command. On a Mac, the Windows Registry isn't very
useful :-) You need to delete the file
which is where the equivalent information is stored on a Mac. If you are running on OS X 10.9, you will also need to run this command: killall -u your-user-name cfprefsd Your user name can be found by running whoami Jon Peck (no "h") aka Kim Senior Software Engineer, IBM [hidden email] phone: 720-342-5621 From: Ian Martin <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email], Date: 05/07/2014 01:28 PM Subject: Re: [SPSSX-L] V22 crashed, now no toolbar? I tried your suggestion Jon, but it didn't work. OS 10.8.5.
Deleted the com.ibm.spss.plist file from library/preference and it hasn't been recreated? Also restarted and repaired permissions. regards, Ian On May 7, 2014, at 3:42 PM, Jon K Peck <[hidden email]> wrote: > On a Mac, the Windows Registry isn't very useful :-) You need to delete the file > ~/Library/Preferences/com.ibm.spss.plist > > which is where the equivalent information is stored on a Mac. > > If you are running on OS X 10.9, you will also need to run this command: > killall -u your-user-name cfprefsd > > Your user name can be found by running > whoami > > > > Jon Peck (no "h") aka Kim > Senior Software Engineer, IBM > [hidden email] > phone: 720-342-5621 > > > > > From: Ian Martin <[hidden email]> > To: [hidden email], > Date: 05/07/2014 01:28 PM > Subject: Re: [SPSSX-L] V22 crashed, now no toolbar? > Sent by: "SPSSX(r) Discussion" <[hidden email]> > > > > David, > > Thanks for the pointer, but I believe that's a windows-specific solution? Jon,
Thanks for that, it seems to have done the trick! Good to know. cheers, Ian Ian D. Ian and Jon,
I am experiencing the same problem with V22 on my Mac. I have tried everything Ian has described, except for the last set of instructions from Jon that seem to have solved the problem. I do not see a link to the script file that Jon refers to below. Would it be possible to share this solution with me? Many thanks, Drew |

Hi all,
Sorry, I can't find the last set of instructions from Jon that seem to have solved the problem. Any chance I could be sent the script? Much appreciated! |

I have the same problem with Version 22. However, the toolbar I created myself is still visible in all windows and contains everything I need. I found that creating SPSS toolbars is super easy and IMHO a better option than standard toolbars anyways.
I wrote some instructions here: http://www.spss-tutorials.com/spss-toolbar-building/ The absence of standard toolbars doesn't bother me at all and I won't waste my time on getting them back. Good riddance. |
