Hi All,
Please do assist me and show me if we have any SPSS syntax which can display both values & lables on the SPSS data itself?. Thanks, ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. They should both be in your data editor. If you want both displayed in
output, click on: Edit > Options [opens a pane with several tabs] Click on "Output Labels" and change "Labels" to "Values and Labels" in one or both panes. Hi Peter
From the top menu select view>value labels This to switch one or all variable to their value labels U can also save it to XLS or other types in this format by selecting File>save as Then select the file type and tick the box beside "save value labels where defined instead of data values" Regards Aayed On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, Peter Omondi <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi All, > > Please do assist me and show me if we have any SPSS syntax which can > display both values & lables on the SPSS data itself?. > > Thanks, > > ===================== > To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to > [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the > command. The problem with the display dictionary function is that it provides the variable labels and value labels in different tables. I have often had to use excel lookup functions to bring it all together into a proper data dictionary.
If you are looking for syntax, you can use this for a full list: Display dictionary. If you want to just to look at one or select variables: Display dictionary /Variables= variable1. Yes, I think so. From the data editor click on:
Data > Define Variable Properties Drag a variable across to the Variables to scan pane, click Continue, and you get a useful little menu displaying values, labels and much else besides. I'd never use this for defining data, but it's a handy check all the same. Hi Mark, I had been doing the same thing to get around the variables/values table problem. We've got this metadata management app called "Datamagnet Dictionary" installed on the computers at my workplace. It puts the variables and values in the same table by default, so recently I've just been using that to get a pdf or word doc. I just checked their website and they have a free trial if you want to give it try. Here's the link: http://www.datamagnet.ca/dictionary/overview Regards, Robin |
You might want to look at the CODEBOOK
command.

You might find the CODEBOOK command (Analyze>Reports>Codebook)
useful. It shows selected variable properties in a single table and
can include summary statistics as well.
