Where'd they go? How to call to standard toobars back

Maguin, Eugene

So: 21. Somebody shut down and restarted spss. On all three windows, ‘View’ --> Toolbars  shows only ‘custom’. In the data editor window the ‘data editor’ listing is missing; in the syntax window the ‘syntax editor’ and ‘syntax tools’ listings are missing. Where’d they go and how do I get them back?

I had the same issue back mid July last:
Sorted it as follows:
Jon Peck emailed me off list with the following:
"If you delete this key and the 21.0 xxx ones like it, Statistics will rebuild the default preferences, including the toolbars

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\ibm\/S/P/S/S\/Statistics\21.0

Jon, Thank you. I found the Reset element and clicked it but the toolbars did not reappear and the Reset element is now grayed out. Also, three entries (graphs, utilities, add-ons)  have disappeared from the whatever you call the row/line above the toolbar thing and below the file name row/line on the syntax window. I saw David’s reply and it looks like a registry edit operation. True? Would you advise that reinstall is a better solution? Until either the registry can be edited or the program reinstalled, do you have any reason to doubt the intactness of the computational/data management components of the program?

Thanks, Gene Maguin

I didn't see an answer to this question.

Try this: do Window > Reset Dialog Sizes and Positions

There is no connection between the missing items and the computational and data management components.
Did you restart Statistics after the Reset?  It should, in theory, do the same thing as editing the Registry, but in both cases a restart may be necessary.

I didn’t but I just did a computer restart. They’re not back. So, a re-install. Ok, Thanks, Gene Maguin
