help and algorithm access

Maguin, Eugene

This question is really to ibm-spss rather than to the list.

Does access to the help (not syntax reference, which is a pdf) and algorithm documentation require the computer be connected to the internet? I ask because on a disconnected computer, I was unable to access the algorithms documentation (Help > algorithms). For what it’s worth, the default browser is firefox. Is this a problem with firefox?

Thanks, Gene Maguin

Hi Gene,

It shouldn't require that you be connected to the internet.  Rick Oliver may have more details on possible causes of and solutions to the problem you're having -- though is there a particular message you're getting when you're unable to access? -- so I'll just note that if you want a local copy of the algorithms PDF for future reference, the Statistics 23 docs are all at: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27043946

I reached this page from the Stats 23 KnowledgeCenter: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSLVMB_23.0.0/spss/product_landing.dita

Cheers,
Alex

The help does not require an internet connection. It is installed locally on your computer. Does Help>Topics work? If so, you can access the algorithms help (and all the other help) that way.
