I have 5 variables, each of the five having answer categories representing different nominal percentage estimates (e.g., zero, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). I have a few hundred survey participants and want to create a graph showing the percentage of participants who have answered in the different answer categories. I can do this easily for each of the 5 variables with the chart builder by selecting the simple bar chart. This gives the percentage of participants (in the Y axis) who answer in the different categorical responses (in the X axis). So if I run the bar chart 5 times, I’ll get the info I need. …but can I somehow get spss to run a chart with all 5 variables in the same graph? I haven’t used the chart builder often, but have been trying to do this with a clustered bar chart, but can’t get this working. Can someone give me a hint about whether this is possible and if so how to get started, or what to look up? Thanks in advance, Jeff |
This seems to be something you could achieve by 1)
Restructure your data with stacking the variables (VARSTOCASES in syntax, Data/Restructure in the menus) 2)
In Graphs/Chart Builder, use Groups/Point ID where I guess you would want to add a “Columns panel variable” In the first step, I usually begin with setting up a new dataset as a copy of the original one and make the stacking there. Robert Från: SPSSX(r) Discussion [mailto:[hidden email]]
