new items in 24

Maguin, Eugene

I just got 24 installed yesterday and I notice two new items in the help menu: Compatibility Report Tool and Diagnostic Tool. What are these and what do they do/their purpose? I looked in the core system guide and found nothing on either of those names. Maybe they are described somewhere else.

The Compatibility Report Tool just goes to a web page where you can check to see if your OS version is officially supported for the current release of Statistics.

The Diagnostic Tool compiles a list of information that might be useful in diagnosing problems. This information is stored in a zip file on your local computer. If you contact Technical Support, depending on the issue you report, they might suggest that you run this tool and send the zip file results to them to help identify the source of the problem.

I was curious and found this (dated 2012—so perhaps version 24 just makes the tool a built-in)  for Diagnostic Tool.

For the Compatibility Report, there is a separate website—not sure why having it an SPSS built-in would be a benefit…but FWIW..
