"Please remove me from the list serve".

We can't, dear. We are mere mortal list subscribers, just like you.
You must address the deity in charge of our fates, in this case a machine
called the list server. The address of this Supreme Being is
[hidden email], and beware you will be dealing with an extremely
strict and jealous deity; your prayer must be extremely concise and precise.
In the body of your message you must write exactly and only these sacred
words, as lay down in ancient scripture:
UNSCUBSCRIBE SPSSX-L Caroline Halbert M.A., M.P.H.
It, or she, or he, whatever it/his/her gender might be, will surely respond.
Have faith. Ask and ye will be heard.

Let me also tell you that with infinite wisdom and tolerance the Supreme
Being in charge of our humble subscriber destinies also accepts Reformed
Liturgy, whereby the sacred word "UNSUBSCRIBE" may be replaced by the
equally sacred word "SIGNOFF".
