spss 22 crashing when exporting into power point

My spss 22 crashed twice when I tried to export a chart from the output file as a power point file. Am I doing something wrong? If yes, shouldn’t I be getting an error message instead of having the whole program crash on me? Thanks so much for any input.

The application should not crash.

PowerPoint export is supported only on Windows. I thought an installed version of PowerPoint was also a requirement, but I don't see that in the current (v24) documentation.

Ah, here's the reference:

"Export Output saves Viewer output in HTML, text, Word/RTF, Excel, PowerPoint (requires PowerPoint 97 or later), and PDF formats. Charts can also be exported in a number of different graphics formats."

But even if you don't have PowerPoint, the application should not crash.

My recollection, which is hazy, is that the Ppt export was revised over the years because Ppt changed its apis, so your mileage may vary with different versions of Statistics and PowerPoint.  You might be able to export to Word and from Word to Ppt.

It is well worth considering exporting to html and then providing a link to the html file from within you powerpoint presentation

In html interactive mode one can vary easily flip between presenting different aspects of results, e.g. graphs, descriptives  inferential. Actually easier than havignseveral ppt slides. need to make both the html and the ppt available for viewing [ost session
