I am new to the list but a long time spss user. I didn't see anything
inthe archives over the past several months with this issue. I am using v 19 and doing some data cleaning and am getting some troubling problems. First, when I cut and paste from one column to an adjacent column, the pasted data starts in row 1. Second when I copy data, the first cell sometimes converts to .00 .... Is there a patch for 19? should we re-install? Grateful for any advice. ramona ===================== To manage your subscription to SPSSX-L, send a message to [hidden email] (not to SPSSX-L), with no body text except the command. Ramona,
There is a V. 19.0.0.1 patch or update, on the SPSS support site. I haven't tried cut/paste or copy/paste in a data file with this version. I haven't found anything made worse by this update, but it hasn't fixed much either, as far as I can tell. I have installed it, and while it fixed a few problems, there are still significant issues with 19.0.0.1 I have several support cases open at the moment. Some problems have defined, but inefficient, work-arounds offered as solutions by SPSS tech support. Others seem to have no solution. Some problems occur only sporadically, so I can't even know when I might lose all my work. Some known and pretty fundamental problems: - "Save as..." doesn't work unless "look/feel" is set to SPSS Standard instead of default (Mac) - using a saved chart template causes SPSS crash -- this is a HUGE problem for me. - opening a file opens 2 copies of the file, one with the name, the other untitled. V. 18 was much more stable on mac platform, but of course I can't use it anymore on an annual license. Still using perpetual V. 11 for most stuff. There's no way V. 19 should have been released with these fundamental bugs that I discovered in only an hour or 2 of use. regards, Ian Ian D. I have noticed exactly the same problem. I installed the 19.0.0.1 update but now SPSS won't run at all.

Nothing but problems here with V. 19. I have installed all upgrades, and a special hot fix, and have several open cases with tech support. Tech support have been willing, but not able, to resolve problems to date.
As of now, attempts to fix V.19.0.0.1.2 (hotfix) have resulted in an app that will not launch at all. I am now 10 weeks into a 52-week academic license, and have had no use from V.19 yet. regards, Ian Ian D.
